Last of the winter chill

Friday, 11 April 2014

Vintage options always give a unique touch to an outfit. I am totally overwhelmed by how this poncho complete with a hint of faux fur looks given I spent only £10 on it in a thrift store.

I wanted to pay homage to the winter chill that's leaving us in rainy London... as we are now headed towards spring/summer. In other words, it gave me ample excuse to wear my little faux hat!

Ombre Watercolor X Sarah Stevenson for Target

Thursday, 10 April 2014

Finally, it is actually starting to look at Spring here in Toronto.  I took advantage of the beautiful weekend that passed to sport some fantastic textile pieces I picked it from Target for the Sarah Stevenson Collection in March.  Personally, I am a huge supporter of Toronto designers and when I first learned about the arrival of this collection, I had to hop on it.  Today's look is filled with reds, ombre watercolors, and patterns!

Must See: Toronto Vintage Show

Tuesday, 8 April 2014

This was my first time attending the Toronto Vintage Show and I must say, I was quite impressed.  The weather was terribly cold that day and I swear, if I ate any less, the wind would have blown me away.  The ticket for the show was only $10 CAD with exhibits from various Vintage stores, re-sellers and collectors. I tried my best to dress as vintage like as possible.  I personally love vintage looks but not an expert in putting an outfit together in that style. What do you guys think of this look?

Yinsey does Vogue Festival in London's Southbank Centre!

Friday, 4 April 2014

Vogue Festival is one of those pilgrimages a fashion blogger just has to make. Vogue has been such an iconic publication, changing the face of fashion over the decades and reinventing what's wearable. To celebrate this, they brought in the heavyweights in fashion to discuss their thoughts on the industry, their careers and respective inspirations. There was even a 'show your work' booth where creatives were given the chance to get feedback from members of the British Vogue team.

I was delighted to hear Naomi Campbell and Franca Sozzani speak on this occasion, taking my mum out for Mother's Day. The panel discussion was filled with fabulous heart-to-heart exclamations of what makes these women tick, and the potential for Africa as a new fashion leader in future. You can read about the talk in my contribution to Jute Magazine here.

Good Afternoon!  How is everyone's Monday starting out? For me, its with a cup of coffee =) March Break is over, students are back in class and parents are back at work.  For me, March Break means Spring is just around the corner.. but for this year in particular, it seems further away.  This Thursday marks the first day of Spring with a temperature forecast of 2 degrees (at least its +).

Please read on to know more about the outfit, the new collection and DIY event where I met amazing blogger, Natalie Ho from My Little Secrets.

Cochi Clothing: Interview with Founders

Friday, 14 March 2014

There's a real charm to supporting independent brands. Each one has a story, and it's amazing what you learn when you look deeper to find out about the people behind a creative vision.

TORN + POLISHED is really pleased to present our first in our interview series, with the founders of COCHI, Enrico (or "Coke") and Wilson. They're two best friends, not unlike Trinh and me, who combine their passion for art, design and fashion.
